Research Projects Description

TRAnsversal Cavity for ELBE (TRACE)

Currently, in the electron beam accelerator facility (ELBE) at Rossendorf-Dresden, at any given time, the beam is used only by a single user for his experiment. As different experiments require different beam intensity settings, not all the experiments fully utilize the 13 MHz CW beam capacity of ELBE. However, to utilise the full beam capability multiple beam lines need to be established. In order to achieve these multiple beam lines, transverse deflecting cavities can be used to seperate the bunches and by using a chain of these seperators multiple beam lines can be realized. As a proof of concept, in this project, a transverse deflecting cavity is being developed.
